Unleash Your Clown: Presence, Connection, Laughter With Anne Zander

Saturday, Jun 14, 2025 @ 10:00 AM PDT • $78.58 (includes fees)

ALL BODIES &  ALL LEVELS WELCOME  - No experience necessary

How do you engage an audience from the moment you walk on stage?
How can you get a laugh before you’ve even said anything?
How can you lose an audience and bring them back around again?

In this two-hour workshop, we will apply physical comedy and clowning principles to ground your stage presence, create an instant and continuous connection with your audience, and build confidence in your comedic skills beyond the written word.

Whether you’re a seasoned performer, clown curious, or just wanting to get more comfortable in front of a crowd, Anne Zander’s supportive teaching style and professional experience will push you to slow down into the moment, take bigger risks, and build laughs on laughs.

“Anne’s teaching gives me access to a grounded, primal, less judgmental version of myself."
— Haley Klarfeld: standup comic & clown

This is a physical class! We will be moving our bodies and working up a sweat, so wear what feels good to move in, and bring water. We will be working barefoot. If your access needs or preferences prevent this, please wear grippy socks or clean, indoor shoes you can move in.

DEEP FOCUS:
  • Grounding in our bodies in the present moment WITH the audience
  • Developing self-awareness around habits and mannerisms
  • Capitalizing on every laugh!

Anne Zander (she/her/hers) is a queer actor, clown, solo-character creator and physical comedy teacher with an MA in devised, physical theater (Theatre Lab) from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her deep interest in rites of passage has led to solo works that capture the body horror, desire/repulsion and tender recognizability of these irreversible life transitions, shining laughter into the dark corners of human existence. She is currently based in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and twin toddlers, where she performs and teaches regularly for sold-out crowds.
